What we do
Promote and advance the symbiotic interests of industry in the District, workforce development and investment opportunities for new business.
ISK also works on behalf of its members to resolve issues that constrain growth.
In response to feedback from ISK’s members, we facilitate programmes which enable and enhance the capability of industry.
Programmes which actively connect to our local employers and industries, incorporates personal aspiration building and provides training and ongoing employment placement support were commissioned in 2019 and are now being implemented by ISK’s Workforce Development team.
Realising Kawerau’s potential through increased community wellbeing is a fundamental component of ISK’s philosophy.
Developing a skilled and capable workforce is central to an efficient business and the stability of the economic environment. ISK members recognise the importance of balancing commercial aspiration with a belief in the greater good and social values and are taking a positive leadership role in the development of programmes that enable the full participation of the community in the workforce.
ISK ensures that members have their voice heard on issues that are important to the group and that their views are genuinely considered when decisions affecting industry are being made.
There are many changes being affected by Central Government i.e., climate change; changes to local government structures; Resource Management Act etc. ISK monitors these changes and is prepared to make submissions. ISK is a beacon to ensure that industry’s interests are being looked after during periods of change.
